Some say that we will soon all be working in a paperless environment and they give examples like bill payments online, bank statements online and the all encompassing digital age.
Well as far as I can see the documents just keep piling up, and as long as that carries on, we will still require file folders and file boxes to keep them all in.Documents and paper work will always need to be stored safely. Legal hard copies including court proceeding and legislation may always be around and as such they will need to be stored somewhere safely and with ease of access. Permanent records will always need safe and secure storage. File boxes for the most part a generally made from corrugated plastic or cardboard.
The practicality of these file boxes is that they are designed for easy storage, designed to sit on top of each other in a uniform manner. That in itself makes them very appealing to those of us that do not have lots of space for storage. File boxes come in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes making them an attractive choice for your office or home work station.
Initially these boxes were designed to store files, however these days they are used for more than just that. People are using them to store clothes, art work, books you name it and they are being used for it. The durability and stacking potential makes file boxes a first choice in storage.
Ideas on storing your file boxes
Place all your boxes into one location. If you can see the boxes then you will be able to better gauge the amount of space required for overall storage of them. Having boxes all over the place will not help you when it comes to calculating the storage space required.
Depending on the planned usage, there may be restriction as to the material the box has to be made of. Namely how long the documents need to be stored, perhaps for historic documents or medical records for example.
Always label your storage boxes making sure to be able to identify at a glance the contents.
If your boxes are not marked or labelled and you have maybe 15 of them in a corner all looking the same then identifying the contents could be problematic.
Use your creativity when storing your boxes, especially if space is at a premium and everyone entering your premises is able to see them. Perhaps some fabric made into a curtain hung in front of them would work.
